Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) and Jessner’s Chemical Peels
TCA and Jessner’s peels help to achieve healthier, more youthful skin by enhancing your natural skin tone, improving texture and minimizing imperfections caused by acne, sun exposure, and other harmful conditions.
We customize the strength of the peel to the maximum strength tolerated by each individual patient. This can be a low-downtime procedure and is a great compliment to radiofrequency microneedling.
How Does It Work?
Prior to the procedure, your dermatologist will clean your skin thoroughly to ensure all traces of cosmetics or other products are removed. Then your physician will apply the chemical solution to the targeted area. Depending on the condition and sensitivity of your skin, your dermatologist will choose the appropriate potency of solution. The chemical solution will create a controlled wound, allowing new skin to take over.
During the procedure, most patients feel a burning and/or stinging sensation. This is typically short-lived and can easily be alleviated by applying cool compresses on the skin.
Once healed, the new skin that is visible creates a more glowing and even look.
Who Is It For?
TCA and Jessner’s chemical peels may be the recommended skin care solution for those who desire a youthful look without the use of fillers or neuromodulators such as Juvederm or Botox. If common skin annoyances such as fine lines, sun damage, and acne scarring are deterring you from feeling your best self, a TCA or Jessner’s chemical peel may be an ideal solution.
Generally, patients with lighter skin tones are better candidates for chemical peels. Darker skin tones can still have desirable results from a peel, however, there is an increased chance of having an uneven skin tone after the procedure.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
Following the treatments, the new skin usually has fewer wrinkles and a smoother appearance. Depending on the condition and sensitivity of your skin, we’ll recommend anywhere from three to six treatments in order to achieve your best result. Only one chemical peel may be performed in a two to three week period. Please tell your physician about any pre-existing conditions such as recurring cold sores or a history of scarring.
After each treatment, your skin may be more sensitive to the sun. You will need to make sure you’re wearing “broad-spectrum” sunscreen of at least 30 SPF to protect this new and vulnerable skin.
